| un garant | a guarantor (who pays if you can't) | Le propriétaire demande un garant qui gagne trois fois le loyer. |
| l'état des lieux | the inspection of a rented flat (when you move in and when you leave) | On fait l'état des lieux samedi matin, avec le propriétaire. |
| un préavis | notice (before you leave a flat or a job) | Pour un meublé, il faut donner un préavis d'un mois. |
| les cartons | the (cardboard) boxes | Les cartons sont prêts, il ne manque plus que le camion. |
